South Lakes Varsity snagged a late lead and defeated Yorktown 8-3 on Tuesday. The game was tied at three with South Lakes batting in the bottom of the fifth when Evan Schweppe singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. South Lakes captured the lead in the second inning. A sacrifice bunt by Robbie Owens scored one run for South Lakes.
Shane Stiehl pitched South Lakes to victory. He surrendered three runs on five hits over six innings, striking out four. Jack Thompson threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Will Fineman took the loss for Yorktown. He lasted one inning, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out one and walking zero. Aden Henning started the game for Yorktown. He went two innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking one
South Lakes totaled 11 hits. Clayton Long, Huebsch, Schweppe, and Ryan Dooley each managed multiple hits for South Lakes. Long went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits. South Lakes was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Garrett Piazza made the most plays with six.
