SOUTH LAKES HIGH SCHOOL Indoor Track and Field FOR IMMEDIATE  RELEASE   March 10, 2019     SOUTH LAKES HIGH SCHOOL BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD AT NEW BALANCE NATIONALS INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS   NEW YORK CITY - South Lakes closed out this season’s indoor track and field season with a school record here at the New Balance Indoor Nationals.   Juniors Mary Gregory, Hannah Waller, sophomore Juviannadean Mullings and freshman Jillian Howard ran a 3:48.87 for sixth place in the Championship Division of the 4x400 meter relay at the Armory. The time broke the school record set by last month when SLHS won the event in 3:54.75 at the 6A State Indoor Track and Field Championships last month.   Howard, Gregory and Mullings teamed with junior Rhema Konadu for 11th in the Championship Division of the 4x200 Meter Relay. Waller finished 13th in the Championship Division of the 200 Meter Dash (24.43).   The Lady Seahawks also had competitors in the Emerging Elite Division: Gregory was 21st in the 400 meter dash (57.91) and 40th in the 200 meter dash (26.03) Howard (200 meters), Konadu (200), Mullings (400) and junior Emily Lannen (800) ran a 4:17.01 for 23rd in the 1600 Sprint Medley Relay.   For more information, please contact SLHS Head Coach Scott Raczko at  swracko@fcps.edu ...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 23, 2019   LADY SEAHAWKS FINISH SECOND AT 6A STATE INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS   HAMPTON (VA) - Going into the final event of the meet, South Lakes High School only needed to finish ahead of South County High School to preserve second place at the 6A State Championship.   They did that and much more at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, VA.   Juniors Mary Gregory, Emily Lannen, Hannah Waller and sophomore Juviannadean Mullings won the 4x400 meter relay with a school and state meet record time of 3:54.75, topping not only South County but race favorite Western Branch High School.   It’s the second consecutive runner-up finish for the SLHS girls track team. The Lady Seahawks scored 49 points and were followed by South County’s 40. Western Branch won the title again, this year with 77 points. There are 52 schools in 6A.   The school record of 3:57.52 was set by Kristen Cohen, Misty Johnson, Jeraldine Cofie and Carielle Doe during the 1995-1996 season. The state meet record of 3:54.98 as set by Oscar Smith High School in 2016.   Waller led the team scoring by winning the long jump in 18.08.75, finishing second in the 55 meters (7.05) and third in the 300 meters (39.29). Mullings teamed with freshman Jillian Howard, junior Rhema Konadu and senior Nicole Post for second in the 4x200 meter relay (1:45.52).   Gregory and Lannen also scored in individual events. Gregory was sixth in the 300 meters with a personal-best time of 40.44. Lannen also had a personal best time in finishing sixth in the 1,000 meters (3:02.04). Senior Samantha Van Haaren was seventh in the high jump (5-00.00).   Junior Caleb Miller was sixth in the shot put (47-08.25) for the boys team that finished 34th. Senior Asher Levy-Myers finished eighth in the pole vault.   Other SLHS finishes at the state meet include: Mullings 9th in the 300 meters (41.29) Howard 9th in the 55 meters (7.56) Lannen, juniors Caitlyn Morris and Sydney Anderson and senior Isabelle Gulgert 9th in the 4x800 meter relay (9:49.84). Gregory 11th in the 500 meters (1:20.25) Seniors Nicky Napolitano, Daniel Ezidinma, Stevie Jones and junior Jackson Cooley 11th in the boys 4x200 meter relay (1:34.03). FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   February 15, 2019     SOUTH LAKES HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SUCCESSFULLY DEFEND 6A NORTH REGION D INDOOR TRACK TITLE   Another Valentine’s Day. Another Region title for the South Lakes High School girls indoor track and field team.   Led by junior Hannah Waller’s victories in the the 55 meters (7.12), 300 meters (40.09) and long jump (18-11.00), the Lady Seahawks successfully defended its VHSL 6A North Region D indoor track and field championship.   Last year’s region championship with the first for the school’s girls indoor track program. This season, the girls scored 133 points for this year’s title. Washington-Lee was second (67) and George C. Marshall finished third (51.50). The boys team scored 29.50 points for eighth place.   Along with winning three individual events, including a school-record in the long jump, Waller teamed with sophomore Juviannadean Mullings and juniors Emily Lannen and Mary Gregory to win the 4x400 meter relay in a season-best time of 3:59.47.     Gregory successfully defended her title in the 500 meters, winning the event in  1:17.31. She was also second in the 300 meters (41.94).    Lannen, who was third in the 1,000 meters (3:05.45), led SLHS to victory in the 4x800 meter relay on the first day of the two day championship. She teamed with senior Isabelle Gulgert and juniors Caitlyn Morris and Sydney Anderson for a winning time of 9:45.10. Morris also finished fourth in the 1,000 meters (3:06.37)   On the boys side, junior Caleb Miller won the shot put (45-06.50).   Other top five individual performances for the SLHS include: Freshman Jillian Howard second in the 55 meters (7.51) and fourth in the 300 meters (42.59). Fourth-place finishes by freshman Tyler Benett in the triple jump (41-00.25), sophomore Molly Shapiro in the pole vault (8-00.00), senior Nicole Post in the 55 meter hurdles (8.90), junior Marissa Banga in the 3,200 meters (11:53.66) and the boys 4x200 meter relay team of seniors Nicky Napolitano, Daniel Ezidinma, Stevie Jones and junior Jackson Cooley (1:34.36). Fifth-place finishes by senior Samantha Van Haaren in the high jump (5-00.00), sophomore Amelia DiBiase in the pole vault (7-06.00), Mullings in the 300 meters (42.67) and the boys 4x400 meter relay team of Cooley, Benett, Jones and junior David Ramirez (3:35.43).   South Lakes will send 21 athletes to compete in the VHSL 6A State Indoor Track and Field Championship February 22-23 at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, VA.   For more information, please contact Scott Raczko, SLHS Track and Field Head Coach, at  swraczko@fcps.edu ...
